PPA Introduces Hari PRS Retirement Plan Initiative

The Private Pension Administrator (PPA) is launching its first Hari PRS event to promote retirement planning among Malaysians. The two-day event will take place on July 11 and 12 at the MyTOWN Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

According to Taufiq Iskandar, PPA‘s chief executive officer, many people delay retirement planning until it becomes urgent, despite its importance. He said the event aims to change this mindset by making retirement planning simple and accessible.

Event Details

The event, themed “Retire Happy When Ready, Jom PRS!“, will bring together seven Private Retirement Scheme (PRS) providers and one distributor. Visitors can compare retirement products, seek advice, and open a PRS account on site.

Other activities include retirement and financial planning consultations, free health screenings, financial literacy workshops, stage activities, and programs for children. Admission to the event is free, and it will be held from 10am to 10pm.

Retirement Planning in Malaysia

As of December 31, 2025, the PRS had 671,736 members and RM8.8 billion in assets under management. Member contributions totalled about RM1 billion in 2025. However, many Malaysians still put off retirement planning due to other financial commitments or because retirement appears too far away.

Rising living costs and longer life expectancy have increased the need for adequate retirement savings. Taufiq said PPA hopes Hari PRS will encourage more people to start saving early and take practical steps towards building their retirement funds.
