Yellow Card, a stablecoin payments provider based in Nigeria, has acquired GoMoney, a Brazilian virtual asset service provider, to strengthen its operations in Latin America. The announcement came on November 5, marking Yellow Card’s entry into Brazil. Through this deal, the company will now handle local collections and disbursements in Brazilian reais via payment systems such as Pix, while settling transactions in stablecoins.
Founded in 2018 and headquartered in São Paulo, GoMoney will retain its current leadership and continue operating as a subsidiary. The company has already submitted an application to Brazil’s central bank for full regulatory approval under the country’s virtual asset service provider laws. Until final clearance, it remains active under a transitional regulatory framework.
Brazil’s crypto market has experienced significant growth in recent years, with transaction volumes reaching $252.5 billion between July 2025 and June 2026. This makes Brazil the largest crypto market in Latin America. Stablecoin activity in Brazil increased by 495% across the 2024–2026 period, supported partly by growing business applications such as cross-border transfers and liquidity management. The acquisition allows Yellow Card to merge GoMoney’s local payment infrastructure with its own treasury services, providing businesses with smooth access to Brazil’s payment networks.
This move follows Yellow Card’s $40 million financing round in August 2026, which included investments from Standard Chartered Bank and Sony. The company has already obtained regulatory approvals in Canada, Switzerland, Nigeria, Ghana, and Zimbabwe. The acquisition will help Yellow Card expand its market reach and enhance its product offerings.
Chris Maurice, Yellow Card’s CEO and co-founder, explained that the deal would improve compliance with local regulations and speed up growth. MaurÃcio Pires, GoMoney’s CEO, described the partnership as a logical progression for both firms, highlighting their combined eight years of experience in stablecoin-based cross-border payments.
By integrating GoMoney’s expertise, Yellow Card aims to reduce barriers for businesses operating across borders, reinforcing its strategy of blending local knowledge with global payment networks.
